As part of the ongoing outreach efforts for the Washington Area Program of Projects, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) organized a Community Open House in Argo Park on April 28, 2022, to provide information on four projects in the Globeville Elyria Swansea (GES) neighborhoods. The four projects included:
- 48th Ave Outfall
- Lincoln Neighborhood Bikeway
- Washington Area Connectivity Study
- GES Connector
DOTI is committed to ensuring that the voices of the community are heard at every stage of the development of the Washington Street area, including planning, design, construction and placemaking. Valerian along with DOTI, Wilson & Company and OV Consulting were on hand to share the status of the 48th Avenue Outfall project and answer any questions or concerns. The project is still early in the design process and the team shared some visioning ideas for the community to respond to. Participants were encouraged to place stickers on the presentation boards to share their thoughts and ideas. In turn, these comments/thoughts will be used to memorialize the community input. Some of the items discussed at the open house included mobility opportunities, the proposed storm sewer, green infrastructure ideas, and the connectivity from Lincoln Street to the National Western Center that will all serve to enrich the GES communities.
