We are SO PROUD to announce that First Creek Park is officially open! On Wednesday, July 31st Mayor Michael Hancock, Executive Director of Denver Parks and Recreation Happy Haynes, and Councilwoman Stacie Gilmore were on hand to do the honors and invite neighbors to enjoy this new first of its kind natural play based park at their doorstep.
Located in Green Valley Ranch, First Creek Park is just under 7 acres and has several amenities including a turf lawn, cottonwood grove, natural play features (one is a massive timber swing!) and an Exploration Zone, where visitors can interact with the creek as it changes throughout the seasons. The park also adds the final piece of the First Creek Trail; providing access from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge all the way through Green Valley Ranch to the High Line Canal Trail.
After 3+ years of hard work, this pilot partnership between Denver Parks and the newly re-branded Mile High Flood District, is finally coming to fruition and we couldn’t be happier! Thank you to everyone who has helped make this project a success!
