Cherry Creek at Scott Road

Cherry Creek is a perennial stream system that flows North from El Paso County to central Denver, where it converges with the South Platte River. This section of Cherry Creek is located upstream of Cherry Creek Reservoir in the City of Parker, where it travels between various open spaces and residential neighborhoods.
In 2020, Valerian teamed with Muller Engineering to improve the stream function and repair the channel from significant bank erosion that created dangerous conditions for adjacent residents. Through stream realignment and the incorporation of several new drop and riffle structures, the surrounding residential communities will see less flood impacts during rain events. A soft-surface trail winds through the restored channel corridor, crossing Cherry Creek by way of a low-flow boulder crossing. Revegetation utilizes native plant species that also meet the requirements for the endangered Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse, found to inhabit the site.
