Valerian and the design team performed the master planning of this 75-Acre park and the associated Cherry Creek Regional Trail System. The trail system is a multi-use concrete trail that extends from downtown Denver to Castlewood Canyon State Park in Douglas County, a distance of approximately 38 miles. The signature element of the Cherry Creek Valley Ecological Park is the sculpted concrete splitter drop. This one of a kind amenity provides safe access to the water’s edge and an experiential option for crossing to the other side. Located just downstream of a larger pedestrian bridge, this area provides an opportunity for connecting with the natural elements within the corridor. Cherry Creek has a sand basin and the sculpted concrete structure provides a safe Colorado “beach” for visitors in the summer while maintaining the stability of the channel.
