LID DEMONSTATION GARDEN

The Low Impact Development Demonstration Garden is a retrofit project spearheaded by the Southeast Metro Stormwater Authority (SEMSWA) to inform potential developers in the management area about new ways to improve and meet water quality standards. The demonstration garden contains various water quality improvement systems including rain gardens, bio-swales, a vegetative wall, pervious paver system, and various modular bio-retention systems as well as a living wall. With the help from the consultant team, Valerian took an existing detention pond and transform it into a natural detention system that helps water to infiltrate into the soil rather than run off into the stormwater system. This will put less stress on the regional facilities in the area and will help to meet water quality standards downstream.
