The North Metro Rail Line is an 18.5-mile electric commuter rail line that runs from Denver Union Station through Commerce City, Thornton and Northglenn to Highway 7 in North Adams County. RTD broke ground on the North Metro Rail Line March 20, 2014 and Valerian served as the landscape architect and irrigation designer for the six (6) light rail stations along the corridor. Included in the stations is the National Western Center, a keystone event and destination center in the City and County of Denver, as well at Eastlake Plaza in Thornton. Valerian worked closely with the design team to coordinate hardscape with the landscape improvements and create a low water use planting pallet for each station. Each of the six stations was designed to provide a unique character for the individual community that they served while also adhering to the specific requirements of each municipality.
