PARKER JORDAN CENTENNIAL OPEN SPACE

2013 | CASFM – Honor Award for Outstanding Achievement
2012 | APWA Colorado Chapter – Public Relations/Public Awareness Community Involvement Programs (Kiosk Project)

Tasked with reclaiming Cherry Creek to create a healthy open space, the design team worked to reverse the effects of upstream development and years of erosion by promoting activities, creating connectivity between the 17 Mile House Park Open Space and the Cherry Creek Valley Ecological Park. Primarily located within the floodplain, the open space was one of the last sections of trail that was necessary to connect Castlewood Canyon State Park to the Cherry Creek Reservoir. Amenities include: a 10’ wide concrete regional trail, secondary and tertiary soft surface trails, custom bench and table design, exercise trail with 5km running loop, reflexology pathway, custom entry and wayfinding signs, an educational touch-screen kiosk with a shelter, colored concrete at gathering areas, creekside gathering space and decorative art boulder etchings.
