Valerian and the design team prepared a site stabilization and restoration master plan as well as construction documents for a consolidated trail network and stream improvements for the former dog park area at Stagecoach South. Valerian worked closely with Jeffco staff to develop an improvement plan that would meet the goals and capacity of the County while also promoting a sustainable open space environment.
After several years, the site has re-opened to the public now that the stabilization and restoration plan is complete, however, it an extension of the neighboring Elk Meadow Open Space and is an on-leash dog friendly trail system rather than an off-leash area. The new trails are intended to direct visitors towards and around unique rock outcroppings and views while maintaining adequate distance from the existing creek to prevent future erosion of the sensitive ecosystem. The Stagecoach Trailhead renovations are also now complete and serve as the parking area to access Stagecoach South and Jenkins Peak.
